Lucas is a frequent member of Brazil's Under-20 international side. Lucas made his international debut for Brazil national football team in friendly match against Scotland on 27 March 2011. Recently, Lucas was called for the Brazilian team, in two friendlies against Netherlands and Romania. He was named in 23 man Mano Menezes 2011 Copa America squad. On the 28th of September, 2011, Lucas scored his first goal for the Brazilian team against Argentina.
